The Gifts of Ecclesial Movements in Evangelization

Course Description: Anyone and everyone involved in ministry today has, is or will be dealing with the results of movements in the Church. The intense loyalty they engender and the passions of their adherents turn many spiritual leaders off. Many questions surface around movements: what are they, what do they produce, why are there tensions, what do they want or need. The central answer that is needed to these many questions is the person who will direct their energies to a good end: the shepherd. This course is intended to assist ordained and non-ordained to lead by shepherding the participants in movements toward a deeper spiritual life in the Catholic Faith.

Rev. Ronald W. Young, O.M.I., is a professor at the University of St. Paul in Ottawa. Fr. Young envisions a Church in mission and cooperation stating, that "missionary cooperation is not merely a desired value for the Christian mission, but an essential element of its vitality. If we sincerely wish to participate in the Church’s mission, we must be willing to share our differing visions in a way that leads to a fulfillment of the Lord’s desire to reach the whole world with the gospel of life.”
